  • Help with understanind dilution ratio

I just ordered a bunch of Detailers line gallon sizes. D156, M135, D161, and some D143. Everything says ready to use except for the D143 Non Acid Wheel and Tire cleaner. I am a little confused as it says Dilution Ratio Up to 2:1. Since I new to these products and not used to diluting product what exactly does that mean? I guess the part that is confusing me is the words "up to" Does that mean that I need to dilute it to some form or can it be used straight? Would be great to dilute as it will last longer. I ordered the Megs bottle that has the marks on the side and it has 1:1 and a 2:1. Just not sure which one should be used.

    Thanks!

I may have found the answer to my own post. I just found the thread on dilution ratio. It probably has my answer in there when I get through reading it. Duh

Buying the detailer bottles helps tremendously. I have found that D143 still works good at 3:1.

This thread should help you out.
I see quite a few people talk about difficulties with dilution ratio's. So, I figure I would just lay down the simple solution that will work every ti

Thanks as always Guz, that site makes it pretty easy. I bookmarked it. I did order the Megs bottle with the marks. I just wasn't sure which line to fill to the dilution line with water or product. But it looks like I fill water to the 2.1 line and product up to the bottle ridge line. And if you think it works good at 3:1 then that is good to me. It will last even longer.

This old MOL thread really clarifies dilutions.

I use D143 at 2:1....pretty sure on wheels washed regularly 3:1 and even 4:1 would be ok...especially with a foaming trigger...
I'm going to test out at 4:1 and report back ...

Thanks Phil, I did find and read that one as well. I do clean the cars regularly so I to am going to try a more diluted mixture and see how it goes.

If you have some type of sealant on the wheels or even brake dust barrier on the wheels then you really should not need to use the wheel cleaner until the protection has dissipated. Soap and water should be more than an enough. Then you can use the wheel cleaner again when it's time to reapply. You could use it as a tire cleaner and apply and remove tire dressings.

I use either ultimate wax or brake dust barrier on the wheels and then use soap and water until it's time to reapply some sort of protection.
