  • Does waxing make future cleaning easier? (tree sap)

I waxed the car, and a few days later a bunch of sap fell on it.
I used Ultimate Quick Detailer to spritz the area, and it came off no problem.
I am wondering if it was the wax layer that acted as a car condom?

Sort of yes. Did u spritz sum spray wax after that to boost up that spot?

Yes, I cleaned with UQD and then went over the entire car with UQW.

I've never heard a layer of wax referred to as a prophylactic. It's usually called a protective layer or a sacrificial barrier.

Ha ha! Well Tim, you did say protective layer right...?

I said, protective layer. Not, protected lay-er.

Yeah having some wax on there can certainly make it easier to remove sap. It could also be that you noticed the sap sooner this time and were able to remove it before it had as much time to dry and bond to your paint. (Got any shears?)

I think so... when you have a good layer of wax, even a simple hose down will knock off quite bit of stuff.

Haha! I find waxed cars are easier to maintain, especially when it comes to general dirt/bugs. Quick removal is key though. Old sap. That is some really tough stuff to remove.
