How long should I wait after applying a coat of ultimate liq wax before it can be topped with one of the quick waxes (specifically gold class quick wax)? I'm thinking for my wife's daily driver black CRV I will clean it really good, put a coat of ULW on it, then supplement overy week or so with the GCQW for the carnauba pop in between full details. Can it be applied right after I buff off the ULW or should I wait overnight?

Re: how long to top ULW?
I wouldn't top it right away, but definitely would weekly after washing.
I'd be concerned about compromising the ULW if you did it before the 12 hour cure time, plus I don't think there would be any (or negligable) visual benefit.Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Re: how long to top ULW?
There really isn't a benefit to topping the ULW with UQW right away. It's mainly for maintenance between waxing - use after washing every week or even in between washes. However, use a quick detailer to get the dust, bird poop and other contaminants off before using the Quick Wax in between washes. Watch Barry Meguiar's video on using UQD and UQW - it explains it all really well.

Re: how long to top ULW?
I understand and agree with your thought process about sealing the finish with ULW and then using GC on black paint. But, I'd recommend one change... After your ULW wait 12-24 hours and apply a full coat of Gold Class Carnauba Plus liquid or paste wax. THEN, start using GCQW as weekly maintenance. Remember that a quick wax is just that. Its intended to be your quick maintenance program. I think you'd be selling yourself short if you didn't apply GCC+ first before using GCQW.
Hope this helps._____________________________

Re: how long to top ULW?
Hello Scotty.
Gotta say I've never heard anyone infer that Gold Class Carnauba contains any product intended to clean. (Please fellow members, correct me if I'm wrong!) GCC+ is designed as a single purpose product and that is to provide a solid coat of blended natural Carnauba wax and polymers on top of an already well prepared finish. Megs does offer some products that are designed as "Cleaner/Wax" but GCC+ is not intended that way. I think Meguiars does a good job of defining their product lines for we users.
Do a little more searching through MOL threads and you'll see other members who already responded to this thread, speak up in support of the ULP then GCC+ combination to enhance the depth of dark colored paint. I can say it works great for me._____________________________
