This morning I went to check out the local (San Antonio) Cars and Coffee and talk about an experience from a detailing enthusiast perspective. Everything from Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, to Jeeps and trucks loaded with swirls, marring, etc... It always surprises me to see such expensive rides and the paint neglect that is very obvious. I met the owner of a very nice Camaro who boasted about only using products from the company whose name is five letters long and starts with an A (not here to criticize companies) but yet the paint looked terrible. He added that he had just waxed it but it was obvious that there was no correction done first or if there was, was not done very well. I guess it's different strokes for different folks. I know Cars and Coffee is a laid back type of meet and not a competition but I just thought it interesting that people customize their cars with tons of money but forget about the paint.

I'm from Idaho and have been around cars my hole life. Shows all the time and also I have been involved in some myself. It wasn't till I move so California that my detailing eye was sharpened. and I started to look at paint on a hole new level. I have always have kept a clean car but I was uneducated about paint care.
Now all I can say is that the paint is the first thing I look at at shows or on my own cars. I get lots of cements on my wife's Mazda that is 5 years old and they think it is brand new. Makes me smile lol2008 Mazda CX-9 (WIFE'S)

I have used Adams myself. I have also used products from Mothers, Wolfgang, Detailer's Pro, Klasse and even Turtle Wax. They all perform to their intended purpose. Does Meguiar's offer products that can give a boutique product a run for it's money? They sure do. Are boutique products intended for everyone? No they are not. They are intended for that specific demographic. I know we are pro Meguiar's here but you can't really bash a product that does what it is supposed to do.
We all know that surface prep is the most important factor regardless of what LSP one is using. So you can't really say bad things about the owner who used the Adams product and the car was clearly not corrected. If the paint was corrected we would be saying a different thing. Or possibly saying he used a Meguiar's wax and someone says that Meguiar's products are bad. Kind of goes both ways.Comment

Guys, my intention was not to bash products or any company. I have great respect for the car world and realize that after posting this thread earlier, that it would or could be possibly taken out of context. I'm not sure if some of the responses were aimed at my original post or at the bashing of a particular company but I do apologize for calling out anyone's car care.Comment

I didnt mean for it to come off as basing and apologize if it did. It's just not a top of the line product for a car guy who should know better. It's like having a chevette and telling the guy with a mercades how much better his car is.
I am in no means knocking the product and is a descent novice product, but someone with experience knows there are better products out there.Comment

OK guys, we all know the rules against bashing on this forum so let's just keep things in check here.
As for the Camaro owner who used Adam's products and his paint was still in need of help, you just can NOT blame Adam's for that. You all know that if you start with a swirled mess of a car and you simply apply Meguiar's Ultimate Wax, it will not transform you car into an award winning show car. That is not what wax is for, and we all know that. It all comes down to doing your homework, leaning about various types of paint defects, then choosing the right product and using good technique in order to achieve a swirl free, show car shine. And that using good technique part is critically important; as we say in our Saturday Classes, it doesn't matter how good something inside the bottle is, if you use it wrong you can't expect the best result. That's true regardless of the brand in question.Michael Stoops

I too have noticed at car shows & get togethers how much better my little econo-box cars look than many of the cars on display. And mine is 8 years old, 160,000 miles and has had several minor fender benders, including a head-on deer strike. The only "bad" areas of my car are the rims which 8 years of Ohio winters have destroyed (cosmetically).Don

This is what's regretful regarding online reviews. Time and time again I see negative reviews largely suspect of user error. It's a shame to see a good product slammed because the user may be ignorant of the intended use, and application procedure.Originally posted by Michael Stoops:551612
