    Sorry to hear that it did not work out. How did it look after the ScratchX? Did you check the link of ScratchX's use I provided previously? Did you REALLY work it in until the product just about disappears? May be worth your while to see if an experienced detailer in your area could buff it out with the rotary, if there was improvement from using the ScratchX.

    Please keep us posted!

      Don't rush to the body shop just yet. Have you tried your PC yet? You've gone the by-hand route, and it was too mild. Next up is the PC and some more aggressive products. Try some #80 Speed Glaze, #82 Swirl Free Polish or #83 DACP. If that doesn't work, the next step would be a rotary with the same products. If that still doesn't cure the problem, then start thinking about the body shop

        After using paint cleaner and scratch-x, I can now see how far deep the cuts are, but not to metal.

          That *****, yet we have all made mistakes.

          I debadged my car this weekend using a hair dryer and dental floss. There was so little adhesive left I was able to get it off with a microfiber cloth and some detailer. A quick pass with my PC 7424 and DACP and the finish is perfect.

          With enough time, effort and patience you'll probably beable to restore your paint. If not, any detail shop should beable to do it with a rotary buffer without charging you more than a few bucks.

            You forum buddies have been really helpful, you have no idea how much i appriciate it. What is DACP, and how is it applied, and will it take off clearcoat/ and or paint, where do I buy it, how much is it, whats the process? I own a PorterCable 7424, and a Black&Decker 7" Polisher/Sander variable speed. Or wouldn't it just be simple and drop it, let the pro's do it, then pay and pick it up?

            Many Thanks:

              DACP == Meguiars #83

              Its the best abrasive polish for the PC 7424. I used it this past weekend for the first time and now I'm a believer. Takes out swirls very well, and from what others have written if you polished the same area enough times you can get the result of the rotary.

              Considering your lack of skill removing the badges, I'd suggest not using your rotary. Your paint is salvagable right now, if you screw up with the rotary you might be repainting, not just polishing.

              A pro detailer is gonna charge you more than the price of a bottle of DACP. Since you have the PC 7424 you might as well buy some cause eventually you'll end up with some swirls in your finish and this will be a good chance to learn how to get the most out of the PC 7424 and DACP.

                If you already own the Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher, the might as well learn how to use it. Pick up a bottle of M8332 Dual Action Cleaner/Polish and a bottle of M8032 Speed Glaze and get yourself a couple of W-8006 foam polishing pads and you can undo any damage inflicted so far except for the deepest of scratches and if you can't remove them with the above combo you more than likely don't want a detailer removing them with a rotary buffer because to do so will take off more clear coat. Chances are good after polishing the area first with the M83 and follow that with the M80, you won't be able to see the deeper scratches, or at least not see them easily.

                    Ok, I spent about an hour and a half trying to get these cuts and scratches off my Ram. Please tell me how I did, all of you have been great with the help and advise. I don't know s**t from shinola, but I tried. I used MG83 followed by a polish with a fine cutting pad on my 7424. I did mess up a bit as there was some red starting to come off on the pad, and noticed a spot where it seemed to start to darken up. I could not get every scratch out, but you need to look hard to see them. Thanks so much guy's.

                    The photo is #79 in my gallery.

                              Looks MUCH better

                              All you need to do now is go over the area lightly with Scratch-X (hand) or #80/#9 (machine) to finish things off

                                Mike, why would colour come off onto the pad? That would mean he's through the clear coat?

                                I had the same thing happen to me when I polished my front bumper. I didn't even think of it at that point, now I'm worried I went through the clear coat (or when my bumper was repainted there is no clear coat?).
