  • Meguiars UQD

I use Meguiars UQD once and awhile. My question is on one of those youtube videos people put on there about UQD and how it makes the water run off. I really don't notice that when I use it.

I don't have the bottle on front of me but I believe it says it cures in 12 hours or so. Try spritzing water on it after that cure time. It's not as durable or long lasting as UQW.

UQD does state that it has to cure 12 hours for maximum protection. And in my experience, it feels a bit tacky upon first application, I was actually disappointed at first. Things do improve after the cure time, and the shine it leaves for a "mere" quick detailer is really, really good. It may not be as slick as UQW, in fact, I still find the surface just a little bit tacky, but if you do experience that, don't be fooled. Try spraying it with water, and it will make water bead and run off.

The video you saw (I saw it too) isn't 100% reliable. A high pressure sprayer or wash was used, and it isn't exactly how a household hose, sprayer or rains behave.

I'm a newbie to proper car washing/care, but I'm really impressed with the UQD. I do a weekly touchup with it and everything just wipes off, including bird poop, with no effort at all. Water beads like crazy when I'm pre-rinsing my truck before a wash (no wax on my truck yet, just washing and UQD).
