Removing 3M Paint Defender

I put 3M paint defender on my 2013 Volt last spring and it stained over the winter. So today, I took the plastic coat off. But there are several small areas by the front of the hood that didn't come off. I assume the coating was applied too thin in that area. Does anyone have any experience with removing small, difficult patches of it?

You are not the first person to bring this up. There is a thread over on autogeek with the same issue. The person ended up using plastic razors to remove it.
