  • D115 and opti-coat

I have almost a full gallon of D115. I am opti-coating my truck. Is it pointless to use D115 over opticoat since opticoat sort of repels waxes/sealants?

    Re: D115 and opti-coat

Dr.G from Optimum Technologies said during The Autogeek Detail Fest, couple years ago, that any type of protection products on top of Opti Coat are unnecessary. Opti Coat is like a second layer of a clear coat.

      Unnecessary maybe. But pointless?

I would think there would be at least some benefit. I think you could at least use D115 just to clean the surface, if not for some additional slickness.

      Just thinking out loud.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

        Re: D115 and opti-coat

I have opti coated my wife's car (and plan to do my work truck if I ever get it to a point I'm happy with - it needs a reprinted hood, everything else lightly wet sanded and then a lot of polishing of course) and after opti coating all I do is wash and then use D156 while drying now. I know it's not necessary, but I like the slickness of D156, so why not? I'm not a scientist, but I doubt D115 is going to do any kind of harm to the opti coat.

D115 is rinse free express wash n wax. It can be used to in a spray bottle as a WW with W as a spot clean, as a waterless wash or add 2 cap fulls to your 5 gallon wash solution when you wash to give added shine and slickness when washing.

If you said you were going to spend hours applying a nuba to opti-coat on a daily driver that would be a different story.
