  • Is there a better hand applicator?

I don't have access to an electrical outlet where my car is parked, so I've had to do stuff by hand. I used the yellow hitech pads, but it gets tiring and my fingers start hurting. I've seen some hand pad adapters but wanted to know if these are effective. And if there are any ones that you like. The meguiars handpads seem hard to find. I see one by Griot's but only works with their pads, and another one by nanoskin that adapts to 6" pads.

This works really well with the meguiar's applicators.

Also be aware of this if you are using too much pressure with your fingers.

You could also run an extension cord to use a DA polisher to make it easier on you.

Thanks. I applied wax in the past with the hitech pads, luckily it turned out fine. But I guess the wax isn't really cutting anything like a polish would. I'm planning to use the ultimate polish and then wax on top. What are the appropriate pads to use?

I was thinking of getting this instead (http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-W63-R...FBPEHM8K7DHRCC) and molding my own grip if necessary, avoids paying the expensive shipping on the other product. That should work, right?

My recommendation is to look into purchasing a DA polisher with the appropriate pads and products. It is possible to do it by hand but you will get better results with a DA polisher. Also an all in one product aka a cleaner wax will clean, polish and protect. A cleaner wax like the maroon bottle, white wax, black wax, colorx. Dedicated products designed for a specific purpose will yield better results such as ultimate compound for correction, ultimate polish for polishing and then your wax of choice.

What wax products are you using?

If you have Meguiars Professional products dealer in your neighborhood they should be able to order the handpad for you.

(Well, the dealer locator doesn't work as well as it used to, but you can call Customer Care, 1-800-347-5700, to find out who your local dealers are.)

I will get a DA in the future, when I have a house and a garage, many years from now. The only available outlet is 30 feet away, and if I lay down an extension cord, cars coming in and out will continually run over it.

Right now, I have only used the ultimate wax product. There are some faint swirls from a year back that I want to take care of, which I was planning on using ultimate polish, or ultimate compound if necessary.

You will be fine doing it by hand. Work by panel and take your time. You could also look into the DAP system.
