  • Need Advice - Car Painted 4 Weeks Ago - Not sure What To do

Hello to all,,,,I need advice before I attempt touching my car that was painted a month ago.

It was painted silver\blue base clear coat. It is a 58 corvette.

My question is ,,,,I want to use Meguiar's Ultimate Polish. I have a Meguiar's Dual Action Polisher.

First,,,do I even use the Polish,,is it safe?

Second, do I use the yellow pad or the black pad when applying the Polish or should i just use my hand?

Third, if I do use the Dual Action Polisher, at what speed should I use it at?

Finally,,,,do I even use the Ultimate Polish OR should I be using the Ultimate Compound?????

You'll be fine using any of those products on your paint.

Which one depends on a lot of variables, including the hardness of the paint. and the severity of the defects you're trying to remove. The golden rule is to do a test spot using the least aggressive combination first and see if that gives the results you're looking for.

Try a test spot with UP on a black pad. See how that looks. It will give you barely any correction, but you may not need any.
If needed, step up to a test spot with UP / yellow pad. See how that looks.
If needed, step up to a test spot with UC / yellow pad. See how that looks.

Once you've dialled in the right combination, repeat on the whole car.

If using UC, you may need / want to follow it up with UP to further refine the finish and/or remove any light marring.

Then your favourite sealant or wax and you're done!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
