  • Body Shop = Swirls - Help

I need some expert advice please. I had the misfortune of hitting a deer this past winter. The car has been out of the body shop for a month now. It has the normal buffer swirls and some scratching from washing I was hoping not to correct after the car was repaired at a body shop. The fit is good as well as the color match, hemi orange pearl. I haven't had the need to do paint correction in years. I not sure if my trusty Megs PC G100 is up to the task? I have a 5.5" backing plate marked for rotation and LC CCS 5.5 inch pads, orange, white, and black. I also have a 3" backing plate and tangerine 3" pads for small areas, tops of fenders, front clip, A pillars etc. My Megs products on hand are UC, Swirlx, M205, UP, and M07. For lsp's I have Ultimate wax and Gold Class liquid. What would be the best combo to try first? Should I get newer DA? Maybe a PC 7424XP?
    Thanks for your help!

I dont see any reason not to use your current machine with the UC..... not sure about the LC pads, which would be best, but I dont see anything you cant work with.

Try a test spot with M205 and a white polishing pad. M205 is very versatile so you could even try M205 on an orange pad and see if you get more correction. If you need even more correction you could go with UC and the orange pad followed by either M205 or UP on a white polishing pad. Seal with the wax of your choice.

Thanks guys! I'll give M205 on a white pad first and see how it goes. Should I set the speed on my ole G100 at 6?

Reason I ask about the speed is in the past I have had trouble keeping the pad spinning and ended up dong the correction by hand and using a more aggressive compound/polish. Maybe I have used to much product priming the pad? Would it be better just to x the product on the pad and go? I was lead to believe to coat the entire pad before starting to prevent marring? The car now has swirls and scratches on every panel, not just where it was repaired. I would be forever doing this by hand! I'm hoping the smaller pads will make a difference. I have never tackled a job this big before. Thanks for your help! I appreciate learning from your experience.
