  • Ultimate Wax Does Not Appear To Sheet Water Off as Nicely as M16

Washed the new car yesterday, for the first time since using Ultimate Wax. Even using the water gently running from the hose, a lot more water was left than using the same method for M16. M16 sheeted water off mostly, and only left the occasional large bead of water here and there. UP, on the other hand, does indeed sheet some of the water off, but leaves zillions of super tiny water beads. With M16, the sides were virtually dry, no so with UW. It really is no big deal, but I would have expected it to behave the same as M16 or better. Guess, I will just have to use a second drying towel.

UP really does make the car look nice, it comes off super easy, and not one steak showing in full sunshine on a black car, so I will forgive this one little irritant.

Hmmm. Not even one comment in four days. That's ok...my kids ignore me also. Bye.

So would you suggest that m16 protects against water spots better than UW? How would compare them in slickness/durability?

Most of my posts get little to no response here. Your not alone.

The different chemistry in the two is going to cause them to interact differently with water or anything else that comes in contact with the paint. Beading and/or sheeting aside, Ultimate Wax, because of the polymers in it, will outlast M16 and out protect it as well. It would be interesting to see how it compares, in your eyes and your experience, to the car being exposed to rain while driving.

The whole "beading vs sheeting" aspect of any wax/sealant can lead to some lively discussions as to which is preferable. Obviously sheeting would be best, if you could actually get the water to fully sheet off the car under naturally occurring situations. For example: if your car is parked and stationary while exposed to a light to moderate rain, and the car is a bit dusty when this happens and you're dealing with acid rain of any potency, is that water really going to sheet off the horizontal surfaces of the paint?

Sorry for the late response, been traveling.

IDK, I like UW a lot and follow with D156 every week or two, Water sheds off my car like it had RainX on the paint at any speed over 35-40 MPH. I don't see as tight of beading as M16 on a stationary vehicle but I think UW sheets better than M16. It may well be that the D156 is doing all the heavy lifting here as it is always fresh. As Mike alluded to, UW protects longer than M16. I also love the smooth, silky feel it leaves on the paint.

Thanks for the replies. It is ok Larry0071 we all love you. If I see one of your posts I will answer ever if I don't know the answer. Thanks everyone, it was an observation I thought I should post. but UPW is amazing. I like to top off my tank past the cut off....and I did that the other day and missed the mark, and gas dribbled down the side of the car. Normally I would have to blot off the gas and race home to clean and wax, BUT THIS UPW just beaded the drips off the side of the car.
              Amazing.

UPW is my favorite. I have toying with the idea of getting the liquid version. our Mazda has black plastic around the wheel wells and bumpers its a pain to work around them areas.

UW in general is great. Scott you should pick it up. Can't go wrong for $20.
