So I did my father in-laws truck, left a lot of DA haze, first tried 205, took the buffer trails or whatever we want to call it, but kind of left cloudy, used the new mf polish that is supposed to eliminate mf haze, and worked great on the first run, except left little tiny like single strand webs if that makes sense but cleared the other issues up right away. Then I tried ultimate polish, left some haze, then tried d301 on a foam finishing pad, left webbing. So pads I used with product as follows,
m205 on megs yellow polishing pad, I primed the pad, didn't let it dry, didn't feel like it was dragging at all, maybe didn't work long enough? Moderate pressure medium to slow arm speed, wasn't flinging product either. DA speed was set right about 5.
New mf polish, on mf finish pad, this cleared the paint up the most. But left pigtails, pad wasn't over loaded, da was set at 4 , moderate pressure , medium to slow arm speed, didn't over work, and cleaned pad with brush. I guess the only this was the pig tails left over.
D301 on megs polishing pad tan, da speed at 4 again, primed pad, same da setting , arm speed and everything, left webbing, maybe wrong pad?
Ultimate polish, megs yellow finishing pad, cleared things up but not to much.
I am almost thinking the clear on this truck is so delicate, I used different microfibers to do the wiping for each product, the truck was paint a year ago this month, so I am at a loss, tomorrow I am going to try ultimate compound on both the yellow and tan pads to see what I can cone up with, it's the one thing left out of the trip this evening. So any ideas, and the truck was clean, and clayed the panel before I worked anything. I would upload pics, but computer is down.
That being said, any ideas, change any steps or processes that I have done? I'm hoping that the ultimate compound will do the trick but I am stumped. Can the clear be that delicate? I hope not and find the right process because this will be a twice a year job.
1967 Chevy C10. I will take some pictures tomorrow and post as well, only doing about half the truck, as I have plans later in the day but this will drive me absolutely nuts!
Thanks again!
