So it's day 2. Half of the car has been compounded with ultimate results. Clayed the driver side & trunk to start today, primed a brand new Orange pad and decided to grab the bull by the horns and take a stab at the repainted side aka the imperfect side of my car and it's not cooperating.. Long story short, when given a close look, the clearcoat is "funky" to begin with. Certain parts on this side almost look painted on with a steaky almost paintbrush look to the clearcoat.. It's not really noticeable unless you look closly, but it's quite odd looking. Even Jason Rose wasn't totally sure what the heck had happened in the small spot I asked him about.. He said it looked almost as if wet sanding had taken place, but also the clear might be really thin. He advised me to be carefull with whatever I decide to do here.. And sure enough, the moment I feared is here. This portion of the paint is why I wanted no part of the MF detailer system.. And while this is actually just a small portion of the quarter panel, and just below this I was able to correct about 80% of the swirls after 3 passes with moderate/heavy pressure, after the 3rd pass on this section, it actually became worse._. I'm talking gnarly swirls. Looks almost like "chickenwire" swirls! It's crazy.. I'm not only stumped, but for the moment, it's zapped whatever energy I had, plus the suns out now, and I'm venting.
I could use a doctor, a paint Dr. I wish I was in Irvine, doing this next to pros who've seen this b4.
Just look at this.. Dull & Discouraged. I'm not even sure if I should compound this side at the moment. Sorry for the long post. End of rant.
