  • Black Wax safe for regular use?

Is it safe to use black wax regularly, say monthly, on a single stage paint on a daily driver? The paint has been prepped with M105/UC/M205 on a DA and looks great. My dad's car has been prepped to near perfection, and it still gets a bit of something special from Black Wax that we can't get with Ultimate Wax.

I know it has some mild cleaning ability, I just want to be sure it is safe for monthly upkeep. I plan on applying it with a finishing pad with a DA. Seems like Black Wax is a great intermediate one step solution between correction/polishing sessions to keep my black car looking it's best.

Will black wax stain trim? How long should black wax sit before it is topped with Ultimate paste wax? Will I lose any of the shine/gloss of the polishing oils in black wax if topped?

    Thanks for the assistance.

Altho Black Wax is mild, I am not sure if I would want to apply this once a month.
I thought I read somewhere that Black Wax is carnauba based. Perhaps this is that something special you speak of? At which point you can try Gold Class Plus.
Or if it is indeed in the the polishing oils, perhaps you might want to experiment with M07 (which has no cut) and wax combos to see what you like.

      Sure

      Yes

30 minutes is nice, 12 hours or so is best.

Just a personal opinion of if the looks change. Maybe do a panel one way, and see if it looks any different.

I would agree. Black wax should last you a little over a month. But you can use it once a month if you like.

A good idea to try out M7. M7 works great on single stage. You could also try the popular M21/M26 combo.

All good info. I agree with a couple test spots to see which combination you like the best.

I use Black Wax on my daily driver what I would consider often - every three months. In between, to keep the shine and boost, I use a combo of Ultimate Quik Wax during drying to hold off marring the paint / add protection and GC Quik Wax to give the carnuba pop look. From that, just once a year full 5-step as maintenance. Keep car from ever showing swirls / spider webs and water beads like mad.
