  • Steps to take after a long winter

I've inspected my car and was shocked to see the amount of light scratches and swirl marks from brushing off snow and want to make sure I follow the proper procedure to get my baby back in shape. I'm planning on buying the polisher that attaches to a drill, the car is a dark blue (Ford Kona Blue) I normally do the Dawn for dishes, ultimate polish and ultimate paste wax. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Save dawn for the dishes. Use a dedicated car wash soap such as gold class. The polish will remove any old wax on the paint. Follow the wash with clay. Then do your test spot with the DA power systems and ultimate polish with the yellow pad. If you need to get a little more aggressive for those deeper scratches and swirls, you could go with ultimate compound on the yellow pad. Your last resort would be the burgundy pad with ultimate compound if you need the most aggressive method.

    The typical steps are
    Wash
    Clay
    Compound
    Polish
    Wax

Something like T.R.I.X. or a similar product can be good as a pre-wash after the winter.

I've always read that the burgundy pad is not recommended for use with UC and a DA.

The DA Power System is a little different from a full sized DA polisher.
