I am thinking about purchasing a LED work light from Home depot

    just as an example.

But I do not know how much Lumen or Wattage is effective for finding defects in the paint. I plan on using the LED and the Sunlight during daytime to inspect work.

I read that multi-die leds are not as good as single-die leds when detailing.

Please let me know what you guys think.

I'm no expert, but I think that would do the job nicely.

30 watts seems a lot for an LED light, so should be very bright..

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

      Re: LED Worklight

I just bought one, and it is quite bright, but not as bright as a halogen. I have not used it for defected detection and removal yet, so i can't comment specifically on that. I live in Phoenix and with the warmer temps coming in, I need to wash my black car after the sun goes down, so it works well for that. It really like that it doesn't put out heat like a halogen. Overall I would say it is above average, but nothing too special.

I know on a recent Video Larry Kosilla talked with Richard Lin about this very topic and Richard uses a 50 watt LED lap(s) at his shop. One thing to keep in mind though is that with the silver backing the light beam is too focused on one area. The best way to use LED lamps to the full potential is to get the silver backing on the light powder coated white. The white will reflect more of the light and will visually increase the amount of defects shown greatly.

I got this thing (2500 lumens vs 1720 lumens, but less watts 24w vs 30w, if that makes any sense???):

I like the adjustable angled side lites and since it's LED, I can move it as close to the car or myself as needed without my imminent melting. It won't light up a whole side of your car, you have to move it around if you only have one like I do. If you decide to purchase it, pull it out of the box to make sure it wasn't a return back to home depot (you'll be able to tell by how the prior purchaser shoves it and the wrapping materials back into the box); else, you take your chances.

Serious correction is typically done to an isolated area, lets say a max of 2'x2' area at a time. So (at least for me), moving the light around as necessary is not a big deal.

That light is pretty good, a lot of detailers use it. Check out some photos, http://www.detailingbliss.com/topic/...e-shop/page-27.
I had it for about 2 weeks, but returned it to put money towards another LED light. Never got the one since seller stop responding.

In another post, someone was looking for a swirl finder light. The Driver shared his set up, http://www.detailingbliss.com/topic/...n-40/?p=371735. So I will be putting this together next week.
