  • M105 or another, help please

So I will be working on a truck this weekend, nothing to severe. It it is after market paint, about 7 months old, Chevy black, and clear coat. The main issue is some micro maring and he put the cover on while the truck was somewhat dirty. I want to use 105 but thinking it is going to be a bit to aggressive for really needs to be fixed. I will admit I caused the micro maring is from me using the mf system in it. I didn't have proper lighting to see it when I did it the first time. And the odd the is is isn't in all over the truck, just in some areas, not sure if I was being to firm and not firm enough, regardless, I'm going to make it right, and want to know what you as the pros would suggest. Like I said I was thinking m105 and finish with the 205. But 105 will be much more aggressive way and I don't think it's needed. Will UC take care of the micro maring ? I do know the truck will be finished off with 26, he loves it.

Red pad on the DA with UC ?

Or something else, I have some Wesco autobody stores Near me that carry some of the proline and the parts stores too. So help would be appreciated,

    Thanks

You would probably want to try polishing pad with the UC or #205, and see how they do for test spots.

If using the MF system, the finishing wax and finishing pad could also be milder and remove marring.

Try using M205 first with a polishing pad. If you need to go more aggressive you could go with either UC or M105.

Or you could try using the DAMF system that you already have with D300 and refine the finish with M205.

Well I am thinking that's where the entire problem came from, the mf system. So I would hate to go round 2 with the mf system and get the same results, think the 205 and a finishing pad is enough to cut the maring ?

Do you have the whole DAMF system? Why don't you try the D301 with the MF finishing pad? It was designed to do exactly what you need.

Either that or M205 with a foam polishing pad, as others have suggested...

205 on a fininshing mf pad is my choice on most cars. it finishes really nice if you learn how to use it.

I can agree although it is my go to combo for the soft Tesla paint for correction.

Definitely avoid the red pad on your DA (assuming, of course, you're talking about our red cutting pad). If this paint is fairly soft it isn't a big shock that the DAMF system caused some hazing - that's a very aggressive system. But the hazing should clean up very easily, and you may be able to do so with M205 on a yellow polishing pad with your DA running at speed 5 and just moderate pressure. If that does not do it, then step up to Ultimate Compound. Whether you would then need to go back over it with M205 on a black finishing pad is up to you, how the paint responds, what the customer's goal is, etc.
