I've got a 79 Trans Am with an original steering wheel. It's in very good condition but needs just a little TLC. Was wondering if the leather cleaner conditioner would damage it. Thanks

Re: Can Meguiars leather cleaner conditioner be used on vinyl steering wheel?
Vinyl coated seats/steering wheels and car leather are basically the same thing in today's cars. Automobile leather is "finished" leather which is a leather base, coated with vinyl. (or a similar chemical compound). Both will not absorb anything, so if is says it is for automobile leather, then you can use it on vinyl. It is not going to do anything - good or bad - but will make it smell nice, or make it shine if you like that. . Actually putting a leather conditioner...made for real unfinished leather... on "finished" leather is a waste of money and it makes the seats attract dust and dirt.

I have gold class leather wipes and the pump bottle gold class cleaner conditioner for leather.
elderado, it's the formula style with the vinyl wrap. ( three spoke with holes )
The wheel has been stored away while I've been restoring the car. It's still soft, no cracks just needs a little TLC

Oh ok cool. I didn't know you had it set aside while you finished working on the details in the car. I thought it had been on the car for a whole 35yrs.
I wish I had a nicer steering wheel. Like one of those that has wood and leather looks alot classier that the normal leather ones that come standard on Caddys.
