  • Black jeep

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site but I thought I'd give a try. I have a 2011 Jeep Unlimited JK and it is black. I've recently moved from Metro Detroit area and it has gone through several brutal winters of salt spray snow and cold weather. Rust happens to vehicles pretty fast so when it snows in Michigan they use an aweful lot of salt to clear roads. My mistake has been to try getting road salt off and take it to drive through car washes. Now I'm living in Knoxville and I'm getting ready to detail my Jeep, It has fine scratches on it probably from drive through car washes. So which product should I use first once vehicle is clean "swirlx ?" Any suggestions will be appreciated. Overall the Jeep is very nice just cant' stand to see small scratches when sun hits it just right.

    to MOL knoxville

I think swirls is alittle better then the start of rust from all the salt you've had to go through, and swirls are easyer to repair then rust and a whole lot cheaper, wait a minute? well if you become OCD MOL it might not be! Just kiddin, but I think you done the right thing. We can help you get the paint back to better then new.

How do you apply your products, Hand, 6''/10'' Orbital, DA, or Rotary?

Have any pics of your jeep? By the way great color choice

Have you looked/read any of these articles.

Thanks for responding , I typically hand apply products however I have a cheap obital that use periodicly. I work Line X of Knoxville TN where we are a complete truck accessory outfitter so I do have access to diferent buffers and such. I do prefer to do it by hand I don't feel real comfortable using power ( I don't want to make I worse by not knowing how to use them properly

I have used a "cheap" RANDOM orbital buffer and Ultimate Compound to remove swirls. If yours is a RANDOM orbital, you should have no problem. Your elbow will appreciate the power.
