  • more play time???

I realize a lot of variables come onto action many of which can be user errors, especially when working with a rotary buffer. BUT, my first experience using a Meguiar's product with my big rotary had great results, but was not "fun" and took a long time due to constant cleaning and switching to clean pads via product drying and powdering.
Just because i know everyone will ask, it was M03 on single stage paint, using a finishing pad on my rotary, light pressure slow to moderate arm movement. Was getting a lot of dust into second pass, so I'd stop early, see that i actually didn't need to continue with more passes, had great results. Not a complaint really, just thought I'd see more play time on a product intended for rotary use. With future Meguiar's purchases, if hope to see better play times especially when it can become important for control in abrasive situations. What is your experience on play time with some different pro line products?

    Re: more play time???

I've used M03 on the DA and finishing pad but didn't have any dust. I worked it at a higher speed, machine pressure only, quick overlapping passes in a small area, then wipe off. If I used too much it gunked up instead of dusting.

Like many others I have had lots of dust with M105 compared to the D300 I was used to working with. I bought a car last summer that needed 3000 grit wet sanding to correct some defects on the hood. Looked like one big plop of bird poop sat on it for a few weeks and some quickly applied touch-up paint in some areas. I added a pea sized drop or two of D300 to a 105 primed MF pad. Lots more working time and the dust was significantly reduced.

I rarely use it anymore but keep M04 on hand for severe scratches and hard to remove paint transfer. I also use it on the kitchen counter, the smooth top range, and to cut mineral buildup on the shower doors. Add a small drop of D300 to M04 pads to keep that dusting down too.
