Being this car is the first that I have waxed with soooo much plastic and unpainted parts, I got Meguiar Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax on the black plastic trim. Is there a way to remove the wax from these surfaces? Is there a product that will make the plastic black again?

Try an all purpose cleaner, diluted per instructions, and a tooth brush

I will try that. I think I will mask it off next time.

Use Megs Ultimate Black, it is awesome stuff. It took seconds on the one piece of plastic on my car that had M21 or M26 on it for weeks. The black plastic looks better than ever too.

I don't use an APC on plastic. You need to use a trim dressing and a brush.
An APC will dry out the plastic and you'll have to dress it anyways so just start with a trim dressing.

Next time tape everything off so you won't have this problem again.

Melamine foam won't work on textured plastic. it will just crumble. those are for marks on smooth surfaces.

How about Gold class trim detailer? It could work as well as Ultimate Protectant, but at a lower price.

                      Re: Wax on Black Plastic

Prior to polish or wax application on my vehicles, I like to apply a thin coat of Ultimate Liquid Wax (ULW) to the black molding, mirrors and trim. I remove it during the wax removal step using an MF towel.

                        Re: Wax on Black Plastic

To remove old wax that has dried and stained plastic trim I'd use an APC or Meg's #39 Heavy Duty Vinyl cleaner/conditioner.

Once you get it off why not switch to using a wax that doesn't stain trim like Meg's Ultimate Liquid Wax. Instead of taping the trim off you can just wax it and it will look great. Nice sheen on trim and lasts a long time. ULW lasts a longer than the Deep Crystal Carnauba as well.

M, the purpose of using APC at the recommended dilution ratio, which would be 4 to 1, is to clean the wax and any dirt or oil from the trim. Then whatever dressing, sealant or wax approved for trim you apply will properly bond to the clean surface and last longer then just applying dressing on top of dirt. It's like waxing without claying first.

not really. I didn't say to put the dressing on and leave it.
I said put any dressing on and work out the wax with a brush.
