  • Picking the right pad

I have a Porter Cable DA and would like to use some 4" pads in some areas that are difficult to use the larger pads. Will the smaller pads have more vibration?

Also, some pads have mention for use with water based polishes. I use M105, M205 and Ultimate Compound. Are these water based?

    Thanks!

What pads are you looking to go with? If you going with the Meg's pads you won't have any issue

I just got 3 of the crimson hydro tech finish pads.

Haven't washed or used them yet but I don't think the hydro thing is of much consequence. They are supposedly less absorbent. I would imagine most fluids would be treated similarly.

I like the Meg's pads with the nice rounded edges for those hard to get areas, but I got a couple of these for hand application purposes to try out.

The Megs 4" pads are really nice, I use the Yellow with the Megs 3" Pro Backing plate.

One thing to keep I'm mind is that smaller pads will probably cut a little quicker than the larger pads will since the energy from the tool is being put into a smaller area. Not sure if you considered this or not. Not trying to scare you, you will just not have to work as long in those tighter areas with the smaller pad is all
