Plastic Razor Blades

Last time I stopped in the local detail supply they had a box of plastic razor blades, looked interesting so I bought a couple (sold as singles). Yellow plastic, but otherwise looked the same as a typical industrial single sided blade. Seems like a good idea, but are they all the same?

I've seen yellow, red, blue, and green, but no idea if any are better than others, or more suitable for some tasks.

Are they use a couple times and toss so I should buy 100 at a time? Or can the edge be freshed up a few times.

Any special downside to them?

They are handy for a number of situations. However even though it has a dull plastic edge, still very capable of inflicting unintended damage. They are all pretty much the same regardless of color or source.

there is no reason to have 100 of them.
I've had the same 5 for years now
You only use them to "push" things

I have a set of 5 that are color coded for varying degrees of thinness/sharpness. I usually use them for sticker removal from paint or glass. One even has a type of applicator sponge right behind the blade to apply adhesive remover as you work.

Thanks, I guess I will pass on getting 100. and just pick up a few maybe of different kinds or that look interesting.

HF sells a version of the Stanley razor blade holder, tiny yellow plastic thing, $2 at Home Depot, 49 cents at HF. Use a coupon for 25% off and get one of the free items with any purchase, leather gloves and scissors come in handy.

Titan brand has a larger much nicer looking holder, contoured with a thumb screw to lock the blade instead of just a clip.
