Carnuba Wax and synthetic liquid wax

hi guys I have a question about the use of both Carnauba and synthetic wax(s). I know the carnauba brings out more of a shine and that the synthetic is more of a protectant. but I have heard that you put on the Carnauba wax before you put on the synthetic..? Or is it you put on the synthetic before the carnauba? I know the steps are wash, clay, polish, wax....but when waxing which is first and which is last?? Carnauba or synthetic? thanks!

Synthetic, then carnauba. The classic combo is:

{#7 pure polish}
M21 Synthetic (needs 12-24 hrs to cure)
M26 Carnauba

does putting on Carnauba first not help with the shine factor or does it not allow the shine to "pop" as much?

Pure polish (M7) provides for the max shine. You seal that in with the Synthetic sealant, then the carnauba adds a bit of depth and some shine.

Sealant may remove most of the carnauba if the carnauba is on first. carnauba doesn't remove the cured synthetic sealant, and doesn't last as long as the syn sealant..

First off all, there really is no need to use both carnauba and synthetic as both do the same thing. Things can get pretty subjective here, and we'll argue that carnauba doesn't necessarily give "more" shine, just that it can give a "different" shine than synthetics. There is no doubt that synthetics, as a group, provide longer lasting protection than carnauba waxes do.

The common observations are that carnauba waxes tend to give a deeper, wetter look on darker paints, while synthetics tend to give a brighter, crisper shine. In the very early days of synthetics many people complained that they made a car look like it was wrapped in plastic wrap, or that the shine was somewhat artificial. In some cases that may actually have been an accurate description, but there have been a lot of changes in formulations over the years. In our line, both NXT Tech Wax 2.0 and Ultimate Wax are 100% pure synthetics, but they also contain polishing oils that help do impart a deeper, wetter gloss. Both of these can arguably be said to do more to make metallics pop than many carnaubas can. But again, this is really all in the eye of the beholder.

Those who like to use both will generally lay down the synth first as it provides the longer lasting base (and some synths on the market claim to not be able to bond properly if a carnauba is applied first) and then they top with the carnauba that imparts the final look they're going for.

I do like to top NXT 2.0 and or UW with M26 as I believe it gives an even higher DOI from what I have experienced.

But then that likely subjective and experiences may vary.

Ok so let me get this one straight. I have an Alpine white Avalanche...i could use just the ULW on it.(which I normally do anyway) and that wil give it the brighter look.

And for my metallic-electric blue chevy volt...I can use the ULW..and top that off with the carnauba wax for that "wet" deep glossy look I'm going for with that.
Correct?


Also, what dose "DOI" mean?
