  • Look what my idiot self has done. Help!

Tonight, I am in the garage taping up vinyl/plastic areas to get ready for a day of m105/205 tomorrow. I'm down next to the car wrapping the side mirror, need to cut the tape and reach for the scissors on the ground. Yep. That just happened.

After doing everything but putting my head through my garage wall, I took this picture. Scratch is catching my fingernail on both the paint and the vinyl side stripe. For the paint, can I do a "meh" masking job with m105 then filling in the scratch the best way possible with touch up?

    What about that vinyl stripe?

the rule is, if you can put a nail in it, it's to deep.
and the vinyl can't be fix and the paint can be paint can be polished so it's not so noticable.
And why did you use scissors? next time just rip it.

That is the irony of it all. I wanted to cut clean lines of tape for a "nice looking tape job". Instead, I cut my car.

I've been reading about 303 Aero protectant. Any truth that it helps hide scratches in vinyl?

        Ouch, not fun, sorry man.

Mario's advice is right on; I don't if any way to repair the vinyl (or if there even is) but next time definitely just use the rip technique (although I bet you already decided that).

Good luck with the polishing tomorrow!!!

Could be worse. You could use touch up paint. While you might not use a significant amount if touch up paint. You would have to be very precise to get superb results, especially because the scratch is so thin.

Or call a Professional to help you out.

nice video explanation... didn't work out for the big job in the demonstration, but should work very nice on smaller chips and scratches. I've seen too many "nail polish" type jobs.
