  • suggestions on working on a 15 year ol accord

my accord is in good condition, shines when its nice and washed but waxes dont seem to last very long. ive most recently used ultimate liquid, NXT 2.0 and other brands in the past but cant seem to hold a shine or keep a gloss for long. Is there any product that can help me? i feel like theres not much clearcoat left or something. i dont have clouds or peeling at all. im going to go over it with the microfiber correction system in the next week or so but im looking for suggestions on what to add after the correction compund and finishing compound that will give me a deep gloss and lasting protection. The car is white so i will clay, use cleaner wax and then use the MF correction kit.

You don't need the cleaner wax if you use the MF correction system. The D300 compound will clean and correct and the D301 Finishing Wax is basically a AIO light cleaner/polish/wax. Then you can top with Ult Wax for durability.

White won't give you the same effect as a black car. But you can get some good gloss from the paint. As stated you don't need a cleaner wax. You should clay it before you use the MF system. Ultimate liquid is the longest lasting wax meguiar's offers. You can maintain the shine every other wash with ultimate quick wax to boost the shine of ultimate wax.

Do your pads turn up white at all when working on the paint?

Without assuming the worst... clear coat failure...

Has the car been clayed before?
Are you allowing the wax (with exception of UW) to haze before removing?
And are you allowing the wax to cure for at least 4hrs before introducing any water to it?

All 3 factors can hinder the wax's ability to adhere to the paint properly which can result in compromised performance.

No white stains on my yellow pad or black pads when using my da. Car has been clayed in the past few years. No water asked after waxing. Maybe some condensation overnight since I live Few miles from the ocean though

I'll do all 4 steps on Monday. Clay, mf correction, finish and top it with ultimate liquid. Is there any waiting time before the UL application after the mf finishing?

I doubt there would be a significant effect if you couldn't wait overnight, but you may get better input on this over the weekend.

You will be fine applying it right after the finishing step.
