Re: New to detailing need advice

I can personally vouch for the UW&WA. I always keep a bottle in the trunk of my car. Paired with a quality MFT, you really can't go wrong with it. Plus, the UW&WA is perfect for all those in between days.

Without worrying about swirls, 2 days would be plenty to just clay polish and wax.

          Sealant

Have you considered a sealant instead? I dominantly use Meguiars #21 Synthetic Sealant, and sometimes follow with their NXT Spray Wax, depending on the project. They both provide an incredible shine, key is, you just have to make sure you use a clean wipe-away microfiber towel to ensure all residue is removed completely. The results are awesome!

I used ULW-is synthetic sealant too for 1st layer and i don't understand why i need 2 layers of sealant, if 1st layer bond to the paint so 2nd layer bond to ... sealant and protect sealant? And we can go to 10 layers that each will protect layer before. I tops sealant with carnuoba and looks good for while and after when it wears down i'll use something sprayeble like UQW.

Re: New to detailing need advice

There is a pretty good debate going on regarding layering and whether it is worth it or not... I can't say.
However, I believe Meg's stance is to apply 2nd coat to ensure even and thorough coverage in case you missed a spot.

I red that before, maybe Meg's is not sure 1 layer would provide enough protection? Other high quality sealants do not required to put 2nd layer and what i read from Autogeek's forum, that not much people do.

I have seen some people put upto 10 coats of wax.... but if each coat will equal, lets say 4 months, I have yet to hear people saying that their wax held up for 40 months.

My goal is to find sealant that give a protection as long as possible. I'm not a fan to wax my car every weekand. So i'm still looking

Then perhaps you should look into coatings.
Opti Coat is very popular and I believe it lasts upto 2 years.

Bummer that Meg's doesn't offer a coating in the US

I know about Opti Coat, but i'm afraid to do it myself, with wax is easy fix with coating not that easy

Re: New to detailing need advice

Do you wash every week or two?

If so, you regular coat of wax, and then using UQW while drying would be quick and easy.

That's my plan, but instead of UQW i like to use Optinum Car Wax(OCW) it last longer
