Re: Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit

I did the treatment and yielded good results. One of the headlights was quite bad and the kit did improve its appearance. I know there are many environment variables, how often in general would I have to repeat the treatment? I usually wax the headlights every time I wax my car which is about monthly. I thought wax would protect my headlights against UV but I am not sure anymore. My wax I use is usually Meguiars synthetic like UW, NXT, Cleaner Wax...

Renegadejade: you said you did the treatment several times. I would assume that the oxidation did come back. How often do you apply the treatment? Do you have to repeat the whole treatment with sandings or just polish with PlastX?

I have personally not did the complete treatment more than once on any set of headlights. I have buffed them from time to time when I have the buffer out. I used up the headlight protectant that came with the kit so now I use ultimate quick wax. After you sand off the oxidation and impurities you shouldn't have to sand again for quite awhile if you give the lights regular maintenance.

If you used the protectand that came with the kit, I believe it states to use it every 6-8 weeks. If they start to yellow then use plastx and reapply the protectant.

I wasted a lot of time looking for the video. I did find some but I was looking for the offical instructional video from Meguiars.
MOL has a whole section dedicated to How To Videos, including this one on the Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit.
