I have tried a few meguiar's products applied by hand, and it will look somewhat good till I wash the car again. This is what it looked like after I just washed it.
What Megs products have you tried? Are your pads / cloths turning red?

I own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
I have used ultimate compound, ultimate polish and ultimate liquid wax. I was not getting any red paint on my pads or cloths.
This is a pic of the roof with the sun almost right over it.
I had a feeling it was that. I got the car cheap because the PO said it needed a new paint job. I had hopped it was fixable since it would look ok after using compound, polish and wax.
You fellows are far more professional than me, but when I had CC failure it looked like the car had, had a bad sunburn, had blisters, and it was pealing. It was actually flaking off.
My eyes see just a badly abused clear coat in the photo. Maybe a guy with a DA , good products, skill, could easily make this look better. Remember he said he was working by hand.
