Im trying to remove swirls on my bonnet. Its a result from my hand applicator which did not apply properly. I bought myself a DA MG Polisher. I used the yellow polishing pad with ultimate compound but only about 30% of swirls came out.

So im looking to the next step recommended by two different people.

1st solution: yellow polishing pad with m105

2nd solution: MG red cutting pad with ultimate polish

Now im trying to contemplate which would be a better option to get rid of the swirls on my car. Please help me.

Unless your paint is super hard, I would take another look at your technique as the yellow polishing pad with UC should really be sufficient to address the swirls.
A few things to take a look at.

1. Are you priming the pad
2. How much pressure are you applying
3. How many passes are you doing
4. How fast or slow is your arm speed
5. Are you cleaning your pad on the fly
6. How much product are you applying

If you haven't done so already, read through this article on using the G110v2 as it addresses these various points. Technique is critical with this tool, regardless which pad or liquid you select.

If adjusting your technique still does not solve the problem, the next move up in aggressiveness would be to use M105 on the yellow polishing pad. We don't recommend the burgundy cutting pad on a DA due to its aggressive nature often causing a DA haze when used with that tool. Certainly you would not want to couple such an aggressive pad with a finishing polish like Ultimate Polish. You may, however, want to use Ultimate Polish on either a yellow or black pad (depending on what the paint prefers) after correcting with M105 or Ultimate Compound.

Hey guys thanks for ur response and definitly reading through the dos and donts of the da. Its a fantastic article. As for priming the pad i try to ensure the product is spread through the whole surface of the pad for my first application. Then after that i will put 4 drops of prodcuts around the pad for any applications after that.

But pressure wise i tried two ways. When was with high pressure n speed and the other light pressure witg speed to get more rotation. With heavy pressure i realised the rotation was abit slow but some swirls were removed similarly with the other approach. (speed of 5 or 6)

But the end of the day the two ways of pressure i used was not able to remove the more obvious swirl marks. So i have a delima.

For my moving arm speed its very slow and steady moving as recommended in the articles. And i always clean the pad on the fly.

Im scared of the red pad cause in the forum its not recommended unless necessary.

You want to give enough pressure but at the same time it is essential that the pad is spinning.
Get the speed setting to at least 5.

Mark the backing plate with a marker of some sort so that you can visually verify that the pad is spinning while you are working.

C89 thabks for the heads up. Will give it a go this weekend! Hope with more spinning those swirls will come off....i ll keep u posted
