  • UC --> UP --> NXT Tech wax

On the picture below you can see my car, I would like to use UC to do some spots on the car where the paint has little faults or where are some minor scratches.
What happens with the clearcoat when using UC? will it remove the clearcoat?
Then after this process I would like to polish my car with UP, I read a lot of topics where people tell that the polish is more for dark cars but will I notice a difference when using it on my car?
And the after this I would like to use NXT Tech Wax because my dealer ran out of the UW and he told me this NXT Tech Wax is also OK but normaly used for new and young cars.
The UW is the best wax but is also much more expensive then NXT.
I have at home : yellow shampoo from Meg, UC, UP, NXT Tech Wax, light wax (white tube), cleaner wax (red bottle), tire gel and brake dust barrier.

    Thanks for advising me here.

With paint correction, there is no magic formula that will make your scratches and defects permanently disappear. You have to level the paint.
UC will level the paint so yes, UC will remove some clear coat.

UP is not just for dark colors. I think people got this misconception because on the dark color cars, the visual effect is more dramatic but it works the same on all colors.

I love UW and it is my go to wax but NXT is no slouch. I would not hesitate using NXT on my car any day of the week.
I use NXT regularly on my front bumper and side view mirrors when I am going on a long drive to protect it from bugs and such.

      Hi,

      Thanks for the reply.
Can you explain a little bit more the expression "NXT is no slouch" please, I assume you mean it's also good wax but you are confusing me by the sentence where you write that you use it just for the frontbumper and mirrors and those are plastic parts

      regards,

Re: UC --> UP --> NXT Tech wax

ULW is a wipe on wipe off type of wax so the process is faster where as NXT, it needs to haze prior removal.
In addition, ULW will not stain black trims.
UW is the most durable wax Meguiar's makes so it will last longer than NXT.

I think UW is the better wax but that shouldn't take anything away from NXT.
I use NXT on top of UW on my bumper as a sacrificial layer because I am trying to find legitimate ways to use up the bottle of NXT that I have.
Prior to ULW, NXT was my go to wax.

The combo you have will work good. C8N has provided good info. Are you going to be doing this by hand or polisher?

Re: UC --> UP --> NXT Tech wax

I have done a two spots tonight by hand but unfortunately none of them worked.
I have done some UC on a 100% cotton piece (as described in the short manual on the bottle) to wipe it over the spot where the paint is a little bit damaged, after the first few wipes I didn't see any difference so I have done this a few times and also used a little bit of pressure.
Then after that I used NXT Wax to protect this spot.

Then on another place on the car there is a little scratch but you don't hang in it with your fingernail so I thought you could remove it with UC but also here it don't work as expected, you still can see the scratchline when you look on it in line against the daylight.

But maybe the UC cannot do it's work because I have waxed the car already a few times now this year?

How much pressure are you applying?

I have used good pressure (not extremely hard) while wiping UC over this spot, here you can see the spot I'd like to get removed, there ar no scratches in this spot.

Has that area been under covers for some period of time?

Re: UC --> UP --> NXT Tech wax

This area has got this spot a year ago, since then I tried to polish it and wax it with some other stuff, if this is what you mean with covers.
the reason why this area has become like this is because of some little plastic flags which were mounted on the windows for one day and through the wind they have wiped every time over this area.

Wash, clay, UC-UP-NXT 2.0 for optimum results. Takes more time, but will give superior results. For quick details, wash-clay-white wax or cleaner wax-NXT 2.0, maintain with UQD for in between washes/waxing, car wash weekly then UQW for in between waxing

Re: UC --> UP --> NXT Tech wax

I thought it might have been water absorption into the clear but since you said that the area was not under covers (ie car cover, bra or etc), I think this can be ruled out.
Does it have a different texture compared to the unaffected areas?

Just looking at your pictures, it could be water spots? or even bird bomb etching? but you have mentioned that it might be result of a flag rubbing against it for some period of time.
But if it is some scratches or stain, clay and/or compounding would have taken it out if done properly.
Sorry I can't be more of help as I am pretty lost on this. I sincerely hope more experienced members or one of Meguiars staff will chime in and get this resolved for you.

Well, I thank you for your time and patience with this.
I also hope that some Meguiar's staff people could reply on this.
Actually I expected some of them.
Here in Belgium we also have a Meguiar forumboard but the latest post there has been a long time so that's the reason I came here where I found more activity.

When I have some spare time Friday evening after work I will try to use these products but I do not expect wonders with the etched spot because I already tried the UC and NXT wax on it.

finished using UC - UP - NXT wax

This evening I have done all steps you have proposed to me.
I first washed the car then dry it, put on the UC but not on the passenger side as this has been repainted in june so I wouldn't want to take off some clearcoat here and it has no faults actually.
Then I put on the UP and after this the NXT Tech Wax 2.0
I'm still wondering what this UC does after applying because I cannot see any differences with the other side of the engine hood. Maybe some ody can explain it what it does.
Now the car is standing in the garage and maybe it is a light issue but it seems that the spot has get minor.
So is it the UC again or is it the UP which has made rhe differences smaller?
