  • Help Me Fix My Paint

Hey everyone, I am planning on trying to fix my swirled Victory Red Chevy Duramax, and from what I have gathered I wonder if I am on the right route to fixing it. I also messed up and put a quite aggressive scratch in my front fender from a dirty rag. Im hoping my process will fix it.

    1 Wash with Dishsoap
    2 Clay
    3 M105
    4 M205
5 Sealant - Not Sure What Number?
6 Wax - Have the old school gold class in my shop not sure if it will work or not?

I have been using the meguiars professional DA i Bought at canadian tire and wow is it awesome. Have been using the mothers 3 step and am not even close to happy. I try to wash the truck at least once a week, dirty or not, and wax once a month.
    Any input is appreciated

Looks good to me! Just know that you should wait at least 12 hours before putting the wax over the sealant

for a sealant either Nxt 2.0 M21 same thing or Ultimate wax. Then top with your gold class carnuba wax

Delete step 1. Dish soap effects the rubber around the windows. Use a good car wash instead, the processes will remove any wax and prepare the surface for the next step.

I would just go with 2 coats of the Ult. Wax, but up to you if you want to use two different products.

The dish soap wont make the car explode... but doesn't help anything. The car soap would be better as mentioned. And then some companies make extra cleaners just for tar, or iron dust, etc as needed.

DON'T use dish soap, man I hate that.
Get some "real" car wash soap.
Dish soap is for dishes and not paint!

Sealant/Wax/LSP is a personal choice. I love M20. Use what you can get and, more importantly, what looks good to you on your car.

To me, "topping" is a waste of time and money. Chose what you like, top if you want, but a single layer of a good wax or sealant is all you need.
No need to go crazy especialy if your not affluent in detailing.
Keep it simple, car car should be a joy and not a problem.
I do it day in and day out. I love it because I keep it simple.

thanks I was unsure on it. I have normal turtle wax wash soap is that ok? I am by no means a professional but just want these dang swirls gone! I am having a hard time to get the products here in canada and just want to make sure I have everything before I start! I have a line on M105 and M205, and have the gold class paste.

Any car wash soap would be good. Looks like you are all set with M105-->M205-->Gold Class. If you want something longer lasting consider ultimate wax, M21 or M20.

Thanks again, I have been reading about ultimate compound and ultimate polish instead of the 105 and 205, also can someone send me a link to the sealant and wax I should be using that would be awesome, then I will put pictures up of what I accomplish. I would not mind some info on the pad and pressure and speed on my meguiars DA. Thanks

These are the sealants. My brothers car is victory red and it looks great with ultimate wax.

Ultimate wax is the longest lasting

                        These are good as well

Just to note, M20 is a cleaner/wax, and not pure synthetic like Nxt/UW.

so looking here I can get the ultimate compound and ultimate polish up here, I will try to find some pictures of the swirls and see if you guys think it will be good enough or if I should order the M105 and 205.

Don't underestimate the 'power' of Ult Compound and Polish. They are truly kissin' cousins to 105/205. If nothing else, you can pick up both (UC &UP) for less than what one bottle of 105 or 205 cost.

I've been using the compound for removing 2000 grit sanding marks, may take a bit longer, but it will remove them.
