  • With Steamer and Hot water Extractor, do I use upholstery chemicals?

I just recently ordered the Mytee Lite and Mytee Firebird steamer. With both of these products would I still need an upholstery chemical and shampoo? Before the Lite I used to use a Rug Doctor (which is for sell) and Chemical Guys; Fabric Clean, Lightning Fast, and Nonsense. All a great combination to have.*Now that I will have these 2, do I need chemicals. I'm running low on chemicals I just mentioned and want to see if its worth spending another X amount on those in gallon size.*Anybody out there use a Steamer and Hot water Extractor without chemicals on carpets and cloth seats?I do have an APC that I will continue to use, will that be sufficient for upholstery just diluted really good? All the advise is greatly appreciated.

I just use APC. I don't have the Mytee brand, but I use a commercial steamer on most cars I do. I have a extractor also, but I've its mostly useful for tough spots.

Ok thanks. I have Chemical Guys; All Clean, so I do have it diluted 20-1 so I will go with that. I'll use the $70 or so for new pads and compounds. Can't wait for the Firebird to get here next week. I will be making a review/video on it.

Of course you need "chemicals", well soap. That is what is actually doing the cleaning. You machine is basically a "wet" vac. It injects water and extracts it at the same time.
APC+ is made for machines as in it doesn't foam up in the tank.
That's what I use and I love it.

I appreciate your response. So you pretreat with a spray bottle or do you insert in your extractor?

With my old Rug Doctor I would spray Upholstery Cleaner, then a soap, followed by the Doctor.

          What is your process?

Keep only water in your tank
I use my extractor to extract.

Spray "soap", scrub, extract with water.

Your extractor should be used to extract the dirt and soap. You don't want to leave anything behind.
Some parts wont need as much soap as others or any soap at all.
My motto is "Use very little product" so if you only need a few spray of soap then that will save you money.
