  • UC followed by UP?

I just completed a wash -ultimate compound - NXT 2.0 wax. I'm pleased with the results. The only reason I used compound was not cuz the pint was in bad condition. I just bought a used car and wanted to hit the car with a deep polish treatment. Questions:
    1. Do I need to follow the ultimate compound by an ultimate polish? I didn't think I needed to but I'm seeing some forum posts recommending this combo? My paint is off white so i wasnt sure if that factoredinto a leas noticeable impact for using both the uc and up
    2. If You do recommend using the ultimate polish, how should I proceed? Just a wash followed by a up or do I need to strip the wax off or something? Like a dish soap wash and then start over with wash, UC, UP, wax?
    3. I've also read that the ultimate compound is a rather "aggressive" polish. I plan on polishing every few months since it is garage kept. Should I use a less aggressive wax next time and alternate with the UC? Like I said, the paint is in relatively good condition. I just don't want to use a polish that is not needed. Is it not a good idea to always use the UC? If not, what do I alternate with?
I should note I polish by hand and that my paint is off white

You might look into the White wax product and skip the UC and UP. For a white car, cleaning more important, polish less so. In the graphic below, Meg's shows the concept behind white wax and black wax, it is enlightening (protect means sealant/wax):

Cool thanks again. That helps me
Refocus on focusing on clay and swirl. I actually ordered some dr colorchip so held off on the clay this time because I knew I would want to clay it anyway in a few weeks before coming on top with a machine assisted paint cleaner.
So for next polish, do u think I should stick with UC since I already have a fresh bottle? Is there any caution to the notion that I should use the least "aggressive" polish to suit my needs? As in, go with a swirlX for the next round of polish?

It really depends on what your paint needs.
UC is primarily used for defect removal as it is the most aggressive polish in the Meg's consumer line and hence you don't want to use this too much like you would with wax.
Once you have cleared all defects with UC, you want to maintain the car so that you won't have to use this again.... which is easier said then done.
