  • ColorX question.

    Hi,

Does ColorX contian any abrasive or oil? Can this work conjunction with other brand X sealant?
Oh last but not least. Can I apply with rotary?

I'm not quite sure about the contents of ColorX... I'm sure Mike or somebody else can clarify.

However, I would NOT use ColorX with brand X sealant. (assuming that it has oils in it) Yes, if might work fine... and it might not. It just wouldn't be fair to blame either if it didn't work. Of course, knowing that, you could try it and see how it works for you.

On the other hand, Meguiar's products are developed to be used with other Meguiar's products. I would suspect that ColorX would work fine with any of the Meguiar's synthetic waxes.

    Just my 2 cents.

      Hey Boss,

The reason I asked, I just go me bottle of CX from Target. I go what that heck, its only 5.50, so I wanna give a shot. Oh , I do have few bottles of Megs product(NXT,7,16,22,80,82,83 and Mega ball #84)...Haha I feel like I'm hitting the MegaBall tonight.

Jokes aside, I'm going try on this weekend on this '99 Toyoduh Camary. So, it will go like this: wash, clay,CX,NXT then some #16 and see.

ColorX does contain both diminishing abrasives and Meguiar's TS oils.

I would suggest doing a side-by-side comparison with our ColorX as your base and a section next to it without ColorX or after doing whatever you feel necessary to remove the oils before applying the other product, (brand X sealant), and then see which one looks the best and if there is any real difference over time.

My bet is the ColorX side will look better left alone and brand X sealant applied over it and neither side will show a difference over time. (as far as bonding goes)

        Just a guess...

Sounds like you have it covered with that list!

I think you'll find that the ColorX and NXT will work really well together. (as with the other Meguiar's products)

Again, you can certainly try the CX with any other sealant. However, if you don't like what you see, just use it as experience.

I approach it like this... I always follow the manufacturer's directions and stay within a product line to test/evaluate a product. Then, I start experimenting with other products or combinations. If along the way, I see something I don't like, I always have the reference point (the manufacturers way) to go back to.

I've used that combo before. CX is quite nice by itself but even better with NXT and #16. However, the abrasives in it were so light that they didn't do much for me. If you have any significant swirls to go after, I'd use #9 or #80 first. Then again, I didn't apply CX with a rotary and that may be all the difference you need.
