  • cloudy and pitted clear coat?

I recently bought a 2011 BMW 535i - Space Metallic grey which I thought was well maintained. Recently noticed however on closer inspection on the roof only, there are some issues with the finish. I attached a picture but not sure if you can see imperfections. The finish on the roof feels a little rough compared to rest of the car, but still a bit smooth, and when looking from the side, appears to be pitted and cloudy - not mirror fiish. Not sure if its oxidation or what. I did find out that for a period of time the car had a roof wrap on it that was removed. At first I thought it might be residue from the roof wrap but its not. Here is what I have tried.

    Goof Off
    Clay Bar
    Scratch X 2.0 by hand
Ultimate Compound by hand, and then tried with orbital sander with polishing pad

I am not sure what else to try at this point - Curious what the pros say.

    Thanks
    Michael

It looks like marring to me.
    Where are you?
I'm in RSM, I can come by and look it.

Your going to need tools to correct that paint.
I hate to tell you this but you have some of the hardest paint to correct that I've come by so I don't think your going to be able to fix it by hand and no skill.

My office is in the city of Orange, by the Anaheim Stadium. I was planning on getting a complete exterior detail done soon anyways so maybe we can work something out. I do have to put it off for a bit as the car is going into the body shop to get some other work done, so I will probably want to wait until that's complete.

To the rest - Any other thoughts on what it could be and how to correct.

      The finish
