  • No garage type of question...

    Hey All...

I'm going to be attacking my truck in quarters.....

Would it be safe/advisable to do the following? Wash, Dry, Clay, Polish or Compound, Seal with M21, and final topping with leftover Souveran....however based on cure time I would be letting the M21 cure overnight and topping the next morning.

Would it be safe to use UQD (Ultimate Quik Detailer) the next morning before topping off with some Carnauba? I've got regular QD or Final Touch available too if UQD also requires a (polymer setup) curing time.

At any point in the process if I needed to stop would it be OK to use QD or UQD to clean before I pickup with the process?

    Thanks in advance!

Well, probably best to wash and clay all at once. Then polish/wax as possible.

QD or FI would be better for dusting the next day, kind of expensive to use UQD to clean up and then just remove anyway.

      That all sounds fine

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Don't leave the wax on your paint overnight. Once you've done the whole car wait 30 mins then remove. if you leave it on overnight it might stick too hard to your paint. You might have a problem removing it. This is a common problem the people have done this.

Definitely not leaving the wax on overnight, PWMD! I've got some experience from years ago in detailing for a dealership and a few show cars...unfortunately no more garage for me and the materials have changed significantly!!!

My goal is to get the truck washed...then clay a few panels...then compound or polish (starting with the lighter material to see if the defects go away before heading into the heavier material)...and finally apply M21 Sealant before the end of the night. I'll park the panels that were done under an EZ-Up for the night and let the M21 cure. The next morning was my concern...should I re-wash those panels or would UQD or QD be good enough before topping with a wax.

I'm not sure if you can wax over UQD immediately or if it too needs to allow time for polymer cross linking. Heck if at any point during the process I need to cut and start the next day can I just pickup at a step after a quick wipe down with UQD/QD?

Just a QD / FI would be fine the next morning, unless some heavy dust storm went through...

You can wax over UQD, just a waste.

              well no need to yell.
You said you were going to let it cure overnight. I took that as, you were going to leave the wax on overnight, settle down. I'm just here to help.
As far as topping goes, it's a waste of time and money. There is no need to do this.
M21 will leave your car looking great.
In most cases you'll remove most of your first coat leaving you with less protection then if you would have left it alone.
But do what you want. heck put 10 coats on there.

as far as no garage goes, i bought one of those 10'x10' pop up tents for $40 or so at walmart,,,slide it over my hood "dodge ram 1500" keeps tiny stuff blowing from near by trees off the hood while working on it,,The rest of the truck I just do in random sections as i have time
