  • Ran out of daylight and then the rain came....

So the other night I was able to wash my truck then started claying but before I got halfway done it was just too dark out. I woke up the next morning to pouring rain.

So I`m left with a half clayed truck, I was able to do the cab, hood, fenders and front end.

My question is what should I do next to continue claying, Do I need to re wash and then continue or woul dI be able to use some deatiler or even ultimate wash wax anywhere on the ares that havnt been clayed. What about where I was able to clay? What do I need to do before moving onto some compound.. a real wash or just some qd or uwwa?

    Thanks in advance

If you have enough time for everything at once, you could wash or QD the whole vehicle, then continue.

If just going to have time for sections again, just qd tat section.

I would definitely just wash the car again. You are rubbing something against the paint surface in claying and doing correction in using a compound...why not have the best possible clean surface to work on? Just makes total sense to me and I wouldn't think twice. If you are time crunched...you should wait till you have time to do the process correctly and slowly.

I would wash again....rain is not 'pure'....pollen will scratch paint!
        Black......the ONLY color!

You can just wash the car and wipe it dry
but once get into the claying step, i would not stop it half way, at least apply/spray with Ultimate Quik Wax.
You can clay and wax by sections, that's my method. I believe after clay, the clean paint can be attacked by dust/other instantly, so I will apply wax immediately after clay.
I hope this make sense for you.

You would need to clean the paint first somehow - either with a bucket wash, waterless wash or QD.

Which one you use will depend on how dirty the car got overnight and what you're comfortable with.
