In my never ending OCD driven quest to perfect my cars appearance and care practice's I'm curious if for removing light dust every couple of days on garage kept cars am I doing more harm than good with this tool? Is it better to just use the quick mist instead?

IMO, a carefully manipulated duster is less likely to cause any damage than all the wiping involved with a QD product. I only use a duster for accumulated dust when the vehicle has not been driven since its last cleaning. Now that there are so many good waterless wash products available, I've been using far less QD's and more WW's. The original burgundy lacquer on my El Camino is very fragile, so it's my yardstick on products I use for the entire household fleet.
