Hopefully I didn't do this all wrong. I got our new Honda Accord touring (Dark Gray) home this past weekend and I waxed it right away with gold class liquid since it was clean and dust free but I didn't clay first. I hadn't found this forum yet and didn't think about that step. This car stays in the garage and isn't really a daily driver so if I wanted to wax it every week or couple of weeks would I need to clay it before doing so each time? Any other tips for new cars?

Re: clay everytime between waxes on spare car?
You should clay when it needs it. Baggie test will let you know.
When your surface is clean, your wax will adhere better and you get the most out of your wax.
Waxing every week might be over kill. Just wash and apply something like Meg's Ultimate Quik Wax.2012 Acura CBP TL SH-AWD Tech

No need to clay each time.
Just clay it before you next wax it, since it wasn't done initially. Then clay thereafter as needed (probably 1 - 2 times a year judging by your description).Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Clay, always clay.
If your car's been outside, it's contaminated with fallout.
Especialy being new, that car has sat on an open lot for months and is in desperate need of some love.
You can clay it anytime and re-wax if you'd like.
Use Ultamate Quick Wax since you already used Gold Class.

Generally with a liquid/paste wax, you would use the polymer product first, then the carnuba product.
When it comes to spray waxes, they seem to look good whichever you feel like topping up with.
And yes, the clay can remove the wax, no matter which kind you use. It may not remove all the wax, but cant really tell where it did or didn't.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

A wash and spray wax every week is fine.
You could combine this with traditional waxing every couple of months. A lot of people do that.Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me.
