    Polishing a new car

    Hi folks

    Im new to detailling, got myself PC 7424xp with Lake country CCS 6.5 and 4.5 pads kit (orange, white, black, blue )

    Im going to polish/wax my brand new 1 weeks old car, i would like your opinion on wich PAD i should use for polishing. The white CCS pad say it has a very light cutting power, should i go with a less aggressive pad with no cutting power since the car is new and obviously has a good paint condition?

    I will be using meguiar ultimate polish and meguiar ultimate paste wax

    Porcedure that i will use is: wash - clay- wash- polish- wax

    A brand new car doesn't mean anything. We've all seen brand new cars with terrible swirl marks and buffer trails. With that being said, what's your paint condition like? How bad are the swirl marks?

    If your swirl marks are mild to none and just wanted to make the paint pop then I would suggest doing these following steps:
    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. Polish (Ultimate Polish with a white pad polishing pad)
    4. Wax (Ultimate Wax with a blue pad)


    There's really no need to re-wash the car after clay. IMO, that's just a time waster.

      Paint is in good condition, pretty much no swirl.

      Ill go ahead with white and blue as recommended

        I agree with Marc.
        It could well be that the dealer used some sort of a filler to mask the defects. After a few of washes, that filler will wear off and reveal the damage.
        If I were you, I would get some paint cleaner to see the real state of your paint and go from there.

          Very true. I just bought a new car and the paint is absolutely hammered. I figure I'm going to spend a good 8-10 hours correcting the paint.

          Marc gave you some good advice. Follow his process and you should have good results. Post pics when you're done!
