  • Detailing Procedure

    Dear All,

I need some help...i have a few questions and need some answers to it...i am sure u ppl mst have answered it many tiimes....

the curernt procedure that i am using for washing my car and then waxing is as following.

    1. using 2 bucket method to clean the car
    2. use a clay bar to clean all the road containments and make the body clean.
    3. again wash the car.
    4. now what should i use and i would like to know the difference between then...should i use Meguiars Ultimate paste wax or first should i use Synthetic Sealant #26....are they both the same??? if i use a sealant first how long should i wait to protect it with the ultimate wax???
    5. and how many coats of the above 2 should i use..sealant and wax...i have heard that give 2 coats of sealant and give it a 12 hour difference between each coat...
    6. and in the end use a natural carnabu wax to give it that deep look and flakes....

    to MOL!

    1. sounds good

    2. sounds good

    3. not required (but you can if you want)

3(a). What is the condition of your paint? If you have any swirls / scratches / water spots, this is where you'd apply a compound and/or polish (such as UC and/or UP)

    4. You can use one or the other, or you can use both. If you want to use both, you'd apply the UPW first, buff off, wait to cure, then apply and buff off the M26. The UPW is more durable than M26, since it's a synthetic sealant, but the M26 gives a warmer, richer glow, especially to darker coloured paints, if you're into that sort of thing. So it's personal preference really.

    5. You can do up to two coats if you like. So 2 coats of UPW, OR 2 coats of M26, OR 1 coat of each. Actually, you can do as many coats as you like, but IMO there is no benefit applying more than two.

    6. The M26 is the carnauba wax.

    I hope this helps..

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

sorry by mistake i wrote m26..basically its #21 Synthetic Sealant....so i was told by some that both #21 and UPW are almost the same..so its no use to use both...so i think ill just go with two coats of UPW..i would like to know the time in between the two coats...

secondly the paint is in good shape..very few swirls...its char coal grey color.. and on top of the UPW ill apply the carnauba wax. UPW for Protection and shine and CArnauba for depty..

        Re: Detailing Procedure

I'm sure there are guys here with much more experience than me, but ...

If your paint has a few swirls, I'd hit it with polish first. Recently did my wife's silver car. Paint was in good shape, but I could see a few swirls. Hit it good with Ultimate Polish, using a DA. Made a big difference. Then Ultimate Paste Wax. I've found that letting UPW really haze over (at least 30 mins) before buffing it off, makes a big difference. I allowed the first coat to cure a full day before putting on the second coat.

Haven't used carnuba on top of the UPW on that car, because I doubt I could see much difference on a silver car. I've used that procedure on my jet-black Saab, though, and you can really see a difference.

Ult. Wax is basically the new/improved version of #21/Nxt Wax.

As far as time... At least 15-20 minutes is nice, 12 hours or so being best.
