  • Glas / Fog / Help

If i've been told once i've been told a thousand times, the fog like film on the inside of my windshield is a " Gas from the factory when they built the

car " i have tried everything from newspaper to paper towels to dry brand new micro fiber towels and i'm able to get rid of it but i end up with

swirls and then in a few day s it comes back, i have used the best of the best glass cleaner " Sprayway " and it cleans it however it just reappears

anyway, is there anything i can do, everything detail i do to my car i have NO PROBLEM with at all , it's frustrating trying to get rid of this

headache because when you think you have taken care of the problem all it takes is for a direct hit of sunlight to ruin things for you !

If you can help me out or have a remedy i would really appreciate it, God bless.

Wow....glad to hear I am not the only one experiencing this. There is a wealth of information on this on the "net", yet no one has a solution.

I have a 2013 Nissan Altima and Sentra. The Altima has gassed up since day one! HORRIBLE! Yet, the Sentra does not gas at all! I read somewhere that this gassing occurs when they over sprayed some fire resistant chemical. This happens when they are first start up the equipment so the first few cars off the assembly line for the day are plagued with the gassing.

All I can tell you is, that yes, it's annoying, and no, there is no fix other than what you are doing. It could take a year before this subsides. Good luck.

well it sounds like you've done everything except for straight IPA. ( isopropyl alcohol)?
maybe Opti Coat for glass or Rain X?
Or maybe nothing will work and you just have to clean it every two days which really stinks I know

I do mobile auto detailing and to be struggling with this is a little much i want answers , i'm a disabled vet and i cannot work even if i wanted to - PTSD/BIPOLAR - so i'm trying to make a few bucks on the side none of my customers have complained as of

yet as none of them have new cars , however i have 3 cops lined up for a detail and ALL of them have new SUV's so i can only hope they,to are not having issues with

          the damn gassing.

Have you been using any dressings on the interior?

There seemed to be more of a fog on the glass when I used the Nxt Tech Protectant.

Unless the spiders are causing something...

No sir, i have never used the NXT however yes i use dressings on the interior , "Meguiars Shine " THAT'S IT , i trust nothing else, almost everything i use is from "Meguiars"

the spiders are gone - for now -

Do you have any remedies to the gas problem i'm having on the inside windshield ? and if the spiders should return what can i do ?

Re: Glas / Fog / Help

Well I wouldn't worrier about this on customers cars.

I've done thousands of cars and have only heard of this problem a couple of times.
So please calm down and just do the best job you can.

I've never had a problem on the few dashes I've put dressing on, and I only do this if the customer insists, I don't like interior dressings.

Oh, I just remembered this! When your heater core goes bad the antifreeze will come out of the defroster!
Maybe that's it! You might have a small leak, just enough to coat the windshield with AF.
Does it smell sweet like AF?

Re: Glas / Fog / Help

Protectants and dressings if not applied correctly will causing or worsen gassing, however, I do not believe that is the cause of the original poster's problem. I have not applied ANYTHING to the interior of the Altima, yet during the winter months it gasses up as soon as the heat is turned on. Now that it is warm here in NY, I have been using the AC and I have not had the problem (for now). It's much worse during the cold winter months. I have even read where some people have totaled their cars due to the inability to see out of the windshield.

I wish I was kidding about waiting a year. It's no joke, I assure you.

Incidentally, what kind of car do you have? When did you buy it?
