  • Rust Fixable?

I really do not know if this is the right forum to ask this in, but I figure a lot of detail pro's are lurking around this section and maybe some other car enthusienst.

I was wondering, I found some rust bubbles on my car and was wondering if I get the paint stripped down and repainted what are the chances the rust will return??

I posted a picture, The car was hit back in 2010 and was repainted in that spot and I see a little paint chip that looks like it caused moisture to creep under the paint..

I got quoted 500 to fix that spot, is it worth it or will the rust resurface?

    Re: Rust Fixable?

If the metal is rusted then it will need to be either sanded/grinded down to remove the rust or preferably cut out and repaired with fiberglass or new metal. Painting over rust is not a good idea, make sure they plan on repairing the actual rust not just painting over it.
