  • Easy Weekly Wheel Cleaning.

I love shiney, brake-dust free wheels. I love getting them from hazardous to healthy with every detail i do.

I hate maintaining my own wheels...

A little background on my wheel cleaning.
Weekly: Wash wheels with Meg's Deep Crystal Wash and a bug scrubber sponge in my designated "wheels" bucket.
Monthly: Deep clean wheels with Meg's Wheel Brightener. Dry wheels. Spray on some Ultimate Quik Wax for shine (and protection?).

I reserve the Wheel Brightener for monthly cleanings. I assume this cleaner is too harsh to be used weekly... Correct me if im wrong. Is monthly often as well?

During summer time i autocross alot. So i replace my normal Wagner ThermoQuiet ceramic pads with Hawk HPS pads for summer. These hawk pads put out some DUST! I want to cut down on my wheel cleaning labor, its very annoying to have to get out a 3rd bucket every wash. So i devised a plan... I had an empty 32oz spray bottle of Meg's Quik Detailer laying around so i filled it up with water, and added 1oz of UW&W to it. This gave my a 32:1 spray "wash." So this time instead of getting my 3rd bucket and extra wash out, i sprayed down a dry wheel with this mix. I agitated the wheels with a soft brush and sprayed off the wheel. Stuff works great!

Basically this is a non-harsh, cheap, & time saving method for a weekly wheel cleaning.

Feel free to post any criticism or feedback. I would also like to know what you guys do to maintain your wheels.

ultimate quick wax will work great too. but brake dust barrier would be my choice. you can use we'll brightener all the time. yes its a harsh acid but it safe to use weekly. but if you put some ultimate quick wax or Break dust barrier on there you won't have to use we'll brightener.

I see, ill still us my wheel brightener for monthly use as it costs $1.41/bottle while my little wash spray only costs $0.25/bottle!

Glad to know the WB is safe for weekly use though.

Also, knowing that the wheels get hot, how long will the UQW last? Assuming that it gets "bolstered" by the UW&W spray wash.

You can always dilute the Wheel Brightener a bit extra as well to make it milder.

The Brake Dust Barrier seems to be the longest lasting product for wheels though, and makes cleaning fairly easy.

^^haha...thought that was a new detailing terminology

Yea, I'd dilute WB to 10:1......but since my wheels are pretty clean....I hardly ever use it much anymore
