  • Hot coolant on paintwork

Driving home from Melbourne to Adelaide today and was coming up behind a slower Landrover towing a trailer when suddenly his radiator hose burst giving my car a nice hot coolant bath.
Nowhere to stop and get rid of it until I got home about 4 hours later. Car had a greenish film all over and I finished up washing it straight away (in the dark)
Will have to wait until the morning to inspect it properly for any damage.

I did in the last week or so give the car a couple of coats of UW so hoping I have minimised any damage.

Last year when I did the same trip got covered in what appeared to be brake fluid which caused me no end of trouble.

Might start flying instead of driving,

The coolant shouldn't hurt the paint whatsoever. Brake fluid..now that is another thing. Not good at all.

The coolant washed off easily enough without having caused any damage so all is well
