This one has a velcro backing plate, is that different than the other? I wish they would keep their marketing terms constant over there at ADS

Also, this kit comes with 2 cutting pads & 2 finishing pads. I should be aiming for 2 finishing pads and 2 polishing pads (i think)

What are you trying to achieve? Is this to start a business or for pleasure? As for the mf kit it's really great. Polishes the paint in half the time and finishes down better. The mf pads will work with the w67da backing plate. That is the bp they are made for. At least the 5 inch mf pads are. As for the sidekick blower it is really great but it won't dry the whole car. I have one and have tried to use it to blow off the car. It's better for blowing water out of the cracks that a towel can't get to. I blow the water out and then finish with a towel.

Yeah i have pretty much achieved maximum confuson when it comes to all the different pads... many are saying the 7" is too big. Maybe I'll just buy the polisher alone and buy some separate pads. What size backing plate comes stock?

The w68da bp comes stock. That is for the 7 inch pads. Where are you located in California?

Don't want to confuse you at all. I've actually never tried the Meg DA with a 7" pad, but based on experience with similar machines in up to a 6' pad I made my recommendation. Meguiar's wouldn't piece together a kit that didn't work, so that's reassuring, but if you just spend an hour reading on how users are getting better cut with the smaller pads (especially the microfiber kit--aka damf or mf pads) it might convince you. Ultimately it depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Any polisher and pad combo will impress the hell out of you if you've never used one, so in that sense you can't go wrong. I just happen to think the kit I posted (which will replace the polisher, pads, Ultimate Compound and Ultimate polish in your first list--you can add two microfiber cutting pads to get the equivalent six pack) will give better results for marginally more money.

I have 7" pads and they work great. However, the microfiber kit really is amazing. Very little dusting from the mf kit. Maybe I am doing something wrong with the foam and uc but that stuff dusts me out. Probably too much product on my part. I have foam and the mf kit and I do use both, it just depends on the situation and what you are doing. This post is kind of random thoughts but if I was you I would get both foam and the mf kit. If you cant buy it all at once just buy a little at a time. Hope this helps.

                    What are the differences?

Re: Look over my future purchase

We use our 7" pads all the time in our Saturday Classes and it's rare that we can't achieve the goal we're after. On a lower powered DA (PC7424XP for example) they might be an issue, but on a DA with real power like the G110v2 or even the Griot's Garage 6" they're fine. We ship our G110v2 with the W68DA backing plate which is designed for these pads. If you want to try the DA Microfiber Correction System then you'll need the W67DA to go with the 5" microfiber pads, which is the recommended size for DA use. If you pick up a full 5" microfiber starter kit it includes this backing plate.

The differences between the foam and microfiber pads is much more than simply the material of the pads. The MF system will give near rotary cut with a DA, but still with all the safety of a DA. It is imperative that you clean the MF pads after every section you buff, and that you use a minimal amount of product when working with them - like three pea sized drops for each 2' x 2' area.

Check out these two articles for more background on using the DA with foam pads (D/A Buffing 101 - An Introduction to the G110v2 and similar tools) and with the DA Microfiber System

Re: Look over my future purchase

Try autogeek.net or detailedimage.com I use both for purchases. AG has several kits to choose from. Look under Meguiar's brand page then Meguiar's car care kits and see if something is similar.

Detailed Image has a section on the left menu that says DI packages. Same thing, look to see if their is anything similar for you.

As far as brushes, I use several fine soft bristle brushes to get into cracks on delicate surfaces and stiffer one for stuff like dash seams or the such. Also use cotton swabs interior mostly to get the crevices. Other than using a air compressor to blow dust out of cracks.
