I don't clean my Softbuff 2.0 pads before use. They are sealed so they shouldn't have any contamination. If any, I just tap the pad before use. As for the Supreme Shine MF towels, I wash them before use because they aren't sealed. Who knows if the towels have touched the floor.
It's a good idea to wash microfiber towels before first use, especially the Water Magnet waffle weave drying towels - they just seem to work better following an initial wash. Pads don't have to be washed first, but the manufacturing process will leave some foam dust behind that you can't really see at first, but once the DA starts tossing the pad around it will come out and appear to be dusting the surrounding body panel. If this bothers you, by all means feel free to lightly wash the pads prior to first use.

After washing 4 pads in a mesh wash bag with some inferior towels in a different mesh wash bag, I have a ton of small and medium sized cotton fibers all over my pads. Have the DA, nylon brush, no rotary.
How can I get all this junk off the pads? Argghh. Photos below.
Thanks in advance, Stephan.

Reason: add link. Arghhh.
The lint roller is probably your best bet. This mixing of foam or microfiber with cotton terry cloth is a mistake many people make, but as you can imagine they only make it one time. And now you know why!!
