  • Compounding & Chips

I am trying to get my car's paint looking better, I have swirls and some light scratches all over it and some old hard water stains from the prior owner. I know I need to compound the car to get these defects out. My concern is I have rock chips that are through the color layer possibly through the primer as well (I can't post pics right now since I am at work), is it safe to compound over them? I am in a weird situation were I know I need to fix the chips and road rash but since I am currently stationed in the Mohave desert I know that if I fix these I'll just end up with new ones, we had a small sand storm just yesterday. I want to wait until I get moved out of this desert before I fix all the road rash and chips but also want the swirls and scratches gone now (I should be moved out of this desert in about a year).

Yeah, just dont be overly aggressive on them to pull up any loose edges.

You will also probably get a bit of product stuck in the chips, but that will wash out.

No problem compounding over theses, I do it all the time with no worries.
I'd be shocked is you uplifted the paint.
Just buff with no concern for them, you won't do any further damage.
